The programme on Discovery Channel
I have found this link to the programme I mentioned in class today. In fact, the programme is called Supervolcano. It is on the Discovery Channel and you might want to watch it if they repeat it.
Mt St Helens
This picture should give you an idea of how violent the eruption was.
Volcanoes
Here are some links I promised to include in our blog today after reading about Mt St. Helens in class.
Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument
Read the introduction and find out how long the eruption lasted. Leave a comment if you find the answer.
Images from a camera in Mt St. Helens
Some photos of the volcano before and after the 1980 eruption.
Click here and here (Volcano World Site) if you want to learn more about volcanoes.
Another interesting site by an Australian volcanologist, John Seach.
You could try this quiz from the National Geographic site. Find out about which the tallest volcano is, what planet has the tallest volcano in the solar system, etc.
Read about Hudson Volcano in Chile and how its eruption affected our Patagonia.
